New Funeral Honor for Veterans Available
Funeral Directors: Please join us Wednesday, April 20th at 11:30am to learn about a new funeral honor for deceased veterans. The Honor Bell Foundation has created a new and unique, reverent ceremony to be conducted at the funerals of deceased military service members, veterans, and those killed in action who will be buried at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
The founding principle of the Honor Bell Foundation, Inc., is to provide the opportunity for the rendering of a respectful, final honor at military funerals and memorial services. This will be accomplished with the tolling of a bell—The Honor Bell—in a manner based in tradition and respect. This practice, known as Rendering Bell Honors, will be the last sound heard at a funeral and will toll with an understated, solemn, and clear tone.
Bell Honors will be performed using The Honor Bell, a unique 1,000-pound instrument cast specifically for tolling at military committal, interment, and memorial services. The Bell Honor Guard, comprised of veterans, will render Bell Honors in a tradition known as the "ancient tolling method," a perfect complement to the beauty of military rites. After the folded flag of the United States of America is presented to the next of kin, the Bell Honor Guard will provide a tribute of dignity, honor and respect with the seven solemn tolls of The Honor Bell for the person who was willing to sacrifice their all.
