Honor Bell tolls for veterans at numerous events around Veterans Day

Throughout the week surrounding Veterans Day the Honor Bell could be found across the Front Range, from Colorado Springs, to Gilpin County, to the University of Denver, and Golden. We helped to honor the first veterans interred at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, told schoolchildren about the importance of respecting veterans’ service, participated in numerous ceremonies surrounding the 100th anniversary of the World War I Armistice, and saluted our veteran volunteers. Honor Bell to Toll on First World War Remembrance Day

The Honor Bell carries on a long legacy of tolling in remembrance of those we have lost. Therefore, it’s only fitting that we will be a part of the centennial remembrance of the end of World War I. That day, November 11th, 1918, eventually became known by a name more familiar to many of us: Veterans Day. This year we will be tolling specifically in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the Great War a hundred years ago, and celebrate the sacrifice of all veterans.
