We’ve had some changes in the makeup of the Foundation’s Board of Directors and Advisory Board. Late last year, the Board welcomed three new members, Mr. Daniel Farley, Mrs. Erica Shields, and Mrs. Colleen Whitlow. Shields and Farley replace outgoing Board members Guy Namiach and Jon Beegle. In February the Board appointed Heidi Olivera as the new Chairwoman of the Board. Olivera had been the Board Secretary since the Foundation’s inception in 2014.

Mr. Farley has a lifetime of service to the nation and his community. He is a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam era. He then served with the Wheat Ridge Police Department and Denver Fire Department; he has since retired from both organizations. Dan owned Farley Construction Inc LLC and Templar Services LLC, and was Executive Director of the Denver Firefighters Museum from 1998-2001.

Mrs. Shields is a public health professional with over 30 years of experience in health education and public health from drug and alcohol prevention to resiliency and holistic wellness. Erica was the reigning Mrs. Colorado America in 2016. Erica’s passion for the military stems from her deep love for her father, who served over 20 years as Chief Warrant Officer in the United States Navy. To honor his memory, Erica has dedicated her time to serving and honoring our community and our veterans. Erica is a member of VFW Post 1, an avid supporter of the Colorado Patriot Guard and Honor Flight Northern Colorado, as well as several other veterans service organizations.

Mrs. Whitlow is a US Air Force veteran who served for ten years, including in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. She has served as the COO of Janus Consulting, and was a project manager at IBM. Colleen has been active in veterans’ and community affairs throughout the state, and currently serves as the mayor of the city of Mead.
