$10,373.98 was raised by our generous supporters during the 40 Hands in 40 Days Challenge, which concluded on April 19th. This includes $2,500 of matching funds contributed by a friend of the Foundation, and an additional $2,000 that was gifted when we raised $5,000. Read more about it here.Read More
A friend of the Foundation is matching all donations made to us via the 40 Hands in 40 Days Challenge up to $2,500. We have just over a week left in the challenge, and every contribution counts: each $100 provides the support necessary to perform Bell Honors for a deceased soldier, Marine, airman, sailor, or Coast Guardsman. We all know at least one person who has served in our nation's armed forces, and in keeping the spirit of Veterans Day going through the entire month of November, we are offering a chance for you to honor the vet in your life with a recurring donation to the Honor Bell Foundation.Read More
The Honor Bell Foundation needs your help to bring dignified, final honors to our nation’s deceased veterans. We have created a 1,000-pound bell, called the Honor Bell, which veterans toll in lieu of or as a complement to other military funeral honors. But the bell will not be able to toll for every veteran who deserves it without your help.Read More
For generations, America has honored its veterans when they are laid to rest. We are continuing that mission with the Honor Bell, which will be tolled in tribute to those who have served and sacrificed for our nation by their fellow veterans.
Since we last updated you, we've raised $1,657 of the $10,000 still needed to cast the Honor Bell in May. We need your help to make the Honor Bell a reality! Whether it’s $25, $50, $100, or more, your contribution will ensure that a thousand pounds of bronze gets cast into a bell that will resonate with dignity, honor, and respect for our vets.
The Honor Bell will be cast out of bronze by one of the country’s oldest and most respected foundries, Verdin Company, in early May. Artifacts from deceased Colorado veterans will be placed into the molten metal to symbolize the dedication and service to which all our military service members have committed. The Bell will then be brought back to Colorado under the care of the Bell Honor Guard, and dedicated at Ft. Logan National Cemetery on Memorial Day.
Without you, the Honor Bell will not toll. We need your support to make it happen.
100% of donations received will be dedicated to the casting of the Honor Bell. Make your donation today.
We had a great time at the Fat Jack's Annual Veterans Appreciation Party on the 14th! Thanks to Kyle Fabra, who puts on this special event every year, VFW Post #1 for hosting, all the wonderful volunteers who made it happen, and the great bands, brewers, and purveyors of pork who gave us all something to enjoy. The event raised over $4,000 for the Honor Bell Foundation.
Earlier this month, President and CEO of the Daniels Fund, Linda Childears, and the Honor Bell Foundation staff gathered in front of Bill Daniels’ military memorabilia to mark a milestone for the Honor Bell Foundation. Ms. Childears presented a check to Honor Bell Foundation Executive Director Louis Olivera, symbolizing the grant the Foundation received earlier in the year from the Daniels Fund. The Daniels Fund grant was a first for the Foundation and has served to shift the group’s activities into high gear.
"The support we have received from the Daniels Fund has been incredible,” said Mr. Olivera. “Not only have they invested in the Foundation’s mission with their generous grant, they have helped to catalyze our other fundraising efforts, and stand as a challenge to other grantors we are soliciting. They have also become great partners and continue to provide support in additional ways as we develop our programs.”
The Foundation is currently seeking additional grant opportunities as it moves forward with the casting of the Honor Bell, works with veterans on creating the Bell Honor Guard, and builds its board, among other activities.
